The tool will boost the firm’s efforts to help American companies enter the global marketplace.

Arlington, VA -- KANAVA’s Chief Operating Officer Carol J. Yee last week became one of just over 2,000 Certified Global Business Professionals worldwide, earning the title after passing a rigorous, 165-question exam aimed at testing candidates’ knowledge of global business, supply chain management, marketing, and trade finance.

“We are very happy that Carol has earned this certification, which we see as an additional professional tool to help American companies enter the global marketplace,” said KANAVA President & CEO Susan M. Puska.

The certification is administered by North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE), a non-profit organization based in Forest Hill, Maryland. According to its website, the certification, known as CGBP, grew out of a movement “to place international trade education in a more prominent position in colleges, universities, and various public service institutions.”

Supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration, this push was prompted by a need to to develop small business owners “proficient in global business and capable of working with the level of expertise and professionalism that is required in today’s competitive environment,” according to NABSITE.

“Given KANAVA’s role as a small, women-owned business working in the international arena,  the CGBP certification brings together many of the skills vital to our work and growth,” added Yee, who brings more than 25 years’ experience working with some of the largest development contractors in the Washington, DC area.
